More Art in the Street
By: Bookingbox Organisation and the Artisan
Ayacucho - Bookingbox is a cultural quest, to promote all
different forms of art in different ways.....
|
|
Ayacucho receives lots of tourists with carnaval and Semana Santa, but lots of the months are without festivals and therefore without tourists. Bookingbox has a lot of experience in this area in Europe and propose to work out a plan with the university of UNSCH, to create an infrastructure for cultural tourism in Ayacucho. With our help Ayacucho can become a cultural highlight in Peru. Not only artesania, but also culinair, painters, musicians, etc.
We promote the different artists and regions in our website: www.bookingbox.org
Our magazine on line is for promoting the interesting items: www.bookingbox.info
Bookingbox organisation is now working with the artisans to help them with obtaining their right to work in the streets.
The situation before:
Many people in Ayacucho are working in the world of artesian, and generally, most of these artisans form different groups depending on the type of art they create, but there are others artists of the street that refuse to form groups, their way of thinking is just not in line with others concerning the actual system. These artists think that art is for all, no matter the social ladder you are part of. They have kept in their art the tradition of their ancestors. It’s art we all posses, in reality, just some people have developed it more, because they do it with their heart. As pitiful as it could appear, the artist of the street is nowadays discriminated for reasons like ideology, or even worst, because of his appearance. At the beginning of the 21st century we are all supposed to know that as human beings we are in our right to expect respect. It is so disappointing to see how discrimination and racism are still present in our “modern” society. Artists of the street want just as every one of us, equality. Above all, when tourists come to Ayacucho, these artisans in the streets are the easiest way for them to get to know local population. The artisans will take time to talk, and moreover they are always pleased if they can teach tourists about their culture and their tradition through their art. They are definitively part the cultural attraction of Ayacucho and for this reason, we are asking the municipality to think about the current situation and to find a solution that would permit them to live in harmony with the society.
Before the artisans took every opportunity they got to sit and stall there things out to sell their typical art. Not only people from Ayacucho, but as well people from other cities and countries. The problem raise that some of them (the minority) caused noise, drank and had drugs, so the surrounding shops complained to the government and the government thru the artisan of the streets, without telling them the alternative spots to present their art for selling. It’s necessary to make a change.
Many people come here and like to snuffle around in the typical Andean types of artesian, not only tourists but also people from the little towns surrounding Ayacucho.
The artisan in Ayacucho is very important for a much nicer cosy look in the streets.
The situation now:
Now the situation is very unstable, the artesian are selling on the street, but are very rapidly removed if the police passes by. The artesian are making a plan of structure to tackle the problems of drinking, drugs and noise within their group of art sellers. This is a really great thing, because in Ayacucho everybody drinks, lots of shops have their music turned on real loud, street sellers are sometimes harassing, many people sell stolen goods. Holy week is starting, and the artesian don’t have a place to sell their beautiful art. |

This is their alternative compromise for Semana Santa:
ARTESANOS ASOCIADOS
For a system to control:
Every artesian will give their general data’s and number of identification and signature.
They will present a list of who is going to sell with authorisation of the government .
The rules they will apply in their group for selling is:
- no noise
- no drugs
- No alcohol
- keeping a clean environment
A request for the following places to sell:
- On the left of the mayor plaza there are many portals, from which they want to use 3 portals.
- On the street of 9 de diciembre in front of the parque Luiz Caranza.
- In the second quadrant of Asamblea in the street
- On the stairs of the temple of the compañia de Jesus
In the nearby future:
A presentation with the University of UNSCH:
A plan of infrastructure for all the different forms of art in the street. |
