A half year ago we started our Cultural Quest in Peru , with the planning and renovation of our first cultural center in Ayacucho Peru. The building has been a cultural center 20 years ago , but was closed during the “Shining Path” periode of unrest and violence. Now we have here a artist gallery , a social club (lounge garden) and 3 rooms for artists in residence.

During our search for artists and musicians , we discovered that there are a lot of different aspects to the Peruvian culture that are almost unknown to the western public. Nowerdays the Spanish and Catholic influenced  culture forms the surface of Peru but the ancient Inca culture is still very much alive , the Aymara culture in the southern part of the country survived the Spanish conquistadores and several Indian tribes in the jungle still have theire own cultural roots and traditions.

The bookingbox Organisation will work the following years on a detailed rapport about this culture behind the scenes , bringing you monthly stories and reportages in our online magazine. We start on the surface , the Spanish Catholic traditions , followed by Inca , Aymara and Indian stories. We visit remote villages in all provinces , talk to the village people , cover theire folk stories , theire folk songs , theire traditions , theire history …

Our Organisation works with volunteers , a modern kind of adventurers or explorers , who gave up theire luxury life in the west to help us explore this vast country. We work now with volunteers from Belgium , The Netherlands , France and Quebec and hope to welcome people from other countries.
